BBL Hair Removal

Broad Based Light (BBL) therapy eliminates unwanted hair. BBL is controlled flashes of light that penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the hair follicles.

The heat damages the hair and minimizes the potential for regrowth. Because of the significantly large spot size created by this unique technology, larger areas such as backs, shoulders, abdomens and legs can be treated quickly. Smaller areas such as the lip, chin, and beard, can also be treated in minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the BBL Hair Removal treatment for?

BBL stands for Broad Band Light, it is the most advanced light therapy technology.

A pulse of light is emitted, which is absorbed by the pigmentation, and blood vessels of the hair follicle. When that light is absorbed it is converted to heat, which then destroys the follicle. When the hair follicle is destroyed, it is unable to re-grow hair. Because of the unique properties of each wavelength, the tissue surrounding the hair follicle is left untouched leaving you simply smooth.

What happens during my appointment?

First, we see you for a consultation to determine if BBL Hair Removal is the right treatment for you.

During the BBL Hair Removal process, we apply a clear gel to the skin to help distribute the heat on the surface of your skin. The treatment delivers pulses of light to the hair follicles, preventing the hair follicle from regrowing. This process doesn’t harm the skin surrounding the hair follicle.

Your eyes will be protected with safety goggles during the treatment.

Are there any side effects?

It is possible for patients to experience a warm or tingling sensation. We always discuss side effects in your consult with our therapist.

How long will it take to see results?

Because every patient is different, results will vary depending on certain factors. Most patients start to see a decrease in hair after the second treatment and the reduction is continued throughout the course of treatments.

How long does the BBL Hair Removal treatment last?

Long term results will depend on multiple factors such as hair thickness, the area treated and your personal hair growth cycle. This will be different for every individual and we will assess this in your initial consultation to talk about real results for you.

Is there any downtime?

Immediately after BBL Hair Removal, you will notice some redness in the area treated. It may also feel warm, this will disappear within a few hours. Please avoid direct sun exposure and make sure you are using sunscreen, the area will be sensitive for a few days after treatment.
