Fraxel Laser treatments involve penetrating deep into the dermal layer to stimulate new collagen. Because it is a deep treatment, we numb your skin for up to an hour before treatment. Once numb, the Fraxel is rolled over the skin. It looks like a bright red light. The treatment time is normally around 15-30 minutes.
The most common side effects include some swelling and redness, subsiding after a few days. Temporary side effects can include minor itching, dry skin, peeling and a bit of flaking. Reduce these side effects post-treatments with LED Healite treatments.
Fraxel results are both immediate and progressive. It’s possible to see an improvement in the area within a few days of treatment as the skin starts to heal. Over the next two to three months you will continue to see improvements as the collagen regenerates during this time.
Results can last indefinitely depending on the individual. Maintenance is recommended once or twice a year to keep the skin looking fresh.
Downtime can range from three to five days for a less aggressive treatment or seven to ten days for a more aggressive treatment. Your skin may look a bit pink and flaky as the pigment changes over two weeks.
