Vivace Microneedling

Ocean Cosmetics is proud to lead the way in Perth, introducing the latest technology and treatments to create confidence through beautiful skin.

Dr Gina and Dr Jess were incredibly proud to be the first clinic in Western Australia to introduce the Vivace experience.

Vivace (rhymes with Versace!) combines microneedling technology with radiofrequency, to gently heat the targeted area beneath the epidermis, creating a controlled mild inflammatory process to boost blood supply, growth factors and long-term collagen production.

“We want to look our best at any age – not over-filled and over-stretched, just natural. We want to age gracefully, beautifully and elegantly.”

The Vivace procedure

A state-of-the-art microneedling device, Vivace works by combining radio frequency, microneedling and a red or blue light-emitting LED light, making it a three-in-one treatment. RF (radio frequency) microneedling can be an effective treatment option for fine lines, tightening, collagen production and scaring.

Prior to treatment, a topical anaesthetic will be applied to numb the target area. The anaesthetic will take about 60 minutes to take effect.

The handpiece is then placed over the treatment area, penetrating the skin with multiple thin microneedles, which prompts the body’s natural healing process to produce collagen. For this reason, microneedling is also often referred to as collagen induction therapy. Radiofrequency energy will travel through the microneedles, creating heat and enhancing the effects of the treatment.

The red and blue LED light further supports collagen production and is an antibacterial agent, helping to clear and prevent congestion.

Once the treatment is complete, the tiny channels created by the microneedles will allow fast absorption of nourishing serums that can be applied to the skin to support rapid healing.

After 60 minutes of allowing the numbing cream to take effect, the Vivace procedure takes about 30 to 40 minutes to be completed. You can resume your regular daily routine after the treatment, following any important aftercare instructions provided.

“As soon as we saw this new technology, we just knew we had to have it. Promising results in fewer treatments and less downtime. It’s great for both acne, acne scarring and skin rejuvenation.”

RF microneedling aftercare

After microneedling, your skin may feel swollen and sensitive, with redness being a common side effect. These typical post-treatment experiences should subside within about three days. Straight after the treatment, following the aftercare instructions discussed below is essential.

Overall, downtime after microneedling is relatively minimal, and some simple aftercare steps are implemented to support sufficient healing and prevent complications.

After treatment, you should:

  • Avoid exercising, swimming, hot showers or any heat-related activities for at least 48 hours post-treatment.
  • Avoid any active ingredients five days post-procedure, and instead, use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser.
  • Avoid directly applying makeup post-treatment. Mineral makeup can be worn the day following the treatment, but we recommend waiting 48 hours.
  • Avoid rubbing, scratching or picking the skin in the area.
  • Wear SPF50+ daily and avoid excessive sun exposure for two weeks.
  • Avoid shaving in the treated area for up to a week.

Risks and side effects of RF microneedling

Thanks to Vivace’s advanced technology, minimal side effects are associated with the treatment. The most common side effects are initial redness, swelling and tenderness, which typically subsides quite soon after the treatment. The nature of the collagen induction therapy can also cause pinpoint bleeding during the treatment and scabbing after the treatment as the skin begins to heal. Bruising may also start to show in the treatment area.

More moderate side effects can generally be avoided by performing the treatment on suitable candidates only. These side effects can include infection, prolonged swelling or irritation and scarring. All candidates should not have any active infections in the treated area or serious skin conditions that may impact the body’s natural ability to heal after the treatment. Suitable clients should also be willing to follow the aftercare instructions to support the skin’s healing process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the microneedling procedure hurt?

A topical anaesthetic will be applied to the treatment area at the beginning of the session, which should ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.

How long will it take to see results after the treatment?

Every patient is different – when it comes to collagen induction therapy, the rate at which your body responds may be faster or slower than the next client. The collagen production process generally continues to accelerate in production and regenerate over three months, creating long-lasting results. Results can be noticeable after about three to six months.

Is there any downtime?

There is minimal downtime associated with Vivace, allowing you to resume your routine as usual after treatment.
