Having a tight and well-defined jawline enhances youthfulness and helps people feel confident in their appearance. Aging, weight fluctuation, sun damage, and stress are all factors that can contribute to an aged lower face. This can manifest in loose wrinkled skin, the appearance of jowls, a double chin, marionette lines, and an ill-defined jawline.
A few years ago, surgical facelifts and neck lifts were the only options available to improve an aged lower face. However, thanks to modern techniques, many non-surgical options are now available to tighten, define, and enhance the appearance of the jawline. These procedures can be undergone singly or in combination to restore a youthful look.
If you are considering a non-surgical neck tightening procedure, Dr Gina and her team will help you decide on a treatment plan that works for you.
Threads
Combining thick barbed threads and thin smooth PDO MONO threads, we can support, lift, and tighten the skin and underlying soft tissue. The procedure has an excellent safety history, is effective, and has minimal complications and limited downtime.
Energy-based devices
Lasers, radiofrequency, and ultrasound treatments are widely available and can significantly improve your skin quality. Most of these treatments work by stimulating collagen production and tightening existing tissues. Some also improve and reverse signs of sun damage. Results, downtime, and possible complications depend on the device/technology.
We usually offer radiofrequency and ultrasound treatments as a one-off treatment, and these treatments have no downtime at all. In comparison, ablative lasers offered as a one-off treatment require seven to ten days of downtime. A midway between the two is fractional non-ablative lasers. These are usually offered as a course of three treatments and require a day or two of downtime.
Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers are a great way to increase facial volume in certain areas. These can be injected along the jaw line, angle of the jaw, in the chin, and/or at the marionette lines. Patients can choose between HA fillers and biostimulators. The impact of some fillers is immediate, and results and safety largely depend on the experience of the injector.
Muscle relaxing injections
When appropriate, we can use muscle relaxants along the jawline to reduce the sagging of the neck muscles. Similarly, we can also use them at the corners of the mouth to reduce the downward pull on the lower cheeks. They can also be used in the masseter muscles which, in addition to easing off clenching and jaw discomfort, also results in a more tapered jawline.
Fat-dissolving injections
These can be a very valuable treatment for reducing the appearance of a double chin and jowls. Even though downtime due to swelling can last over a week, the very long-lasting results make it worthwhile.
