Skin Needling Treatment for Rejuvenation

Skin Needling Treatment for Rejuvenation

It’s not very often you will get excited when you hear the words ‘skin’ and ‘needling’ in the same sentence, but this is the exception. Skin needling, also known as micro needling, is a non-surgical, minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that targets skin concerns such as sun damage, pigmentation, ageing, enlarged pores and overall skin clarity.

Dermapen Skin Needling treatments softens the appearance of scars and improves the texture of your skin by working from the inside out, helping to break down old scar tissue and stimulate skin cell production leaving your skin feeling energised and refreshed.

It’s a go-to treatment for our lovely dermal therapist, Angela, to keep her skin looking fresh. She talks you through her experience from the other side – as a client!

My experience with Skin Needling

Having done several Dermapen skin needling treatments myself and witnessing what great results my patients were getting, I was very excited to start having a course of micro needling procedures.

The gorgeous Nicky performed my first treatment and Hayley my second. Skin prep involves numbing before the treatment, which results in a quick and painless treatment.

Initially following the skin needling treatment, my skin felt similar to a sunburn – tight, red and sensitive. This feeling improved by the next day, with just a little sensitivity remaining.

By day 4, my skin was starting to look and feel very dry and flaky. My skin peeled from days 5-7. By day 12 my skin was looking fresh, clear and so much smoother. But don’t let this scare you off. Everyone reacts and recovers differently and the downtime I experienced may be different from yours. After the first day, you’ll be able to cover with make-up.

During the downtime I continued using my RATIONALE products, withholding my A serum at night for the first few days. I was also vigilant with my sunscreen and used my Jane Iredale BB cream for some extra coverage if needed.

I followed up both my Dermapen treatments with a light peel on day 12 to remove any extra dry skin and to give my skin a boost of hydration.

I am so happy with my results and will look forward to my next treatment to see how much more improvement can be achieved.
